Features
Workshop cleanup with a mini launcher — what it does and how it stays safe.
Runs on your PC. Free from MarsianDev. Not a full server browser. Not server hosting.
What it does
Durable list — what the tool is for. Version-by-version changes live on Release notes.
- Unique / Shared / Unused See which Workshop mods only one Active server needs, which others still need, and what nothing Active uses.
- Steam cleanup Mark mods, then clean through Steam when you choose — not a silent wipe of your Workshop folder.
- Active keep-set Mark the servers you still play so jumping maps does not treat every leftover folder as trash.
-
Download / Play
Favourites desk: missing mods, BattlEye launch, server
-mod=list, and a live mod check before join. - Verify / Repair Check Steam freshness on Active mods; Update / Repair when Workshop is wrong on disk.
- Find + server cards Search servers; optional Discord, rules, and about from the owner (their words, not Hygiene-reviewed).
- Updates App updates download quietly, then Hygiene asks before installing. You can choose Later.
Safe defaults
Straight answers for players who are unsure about a new DayZ tool.
- You confirm cleanup Steam cleanup only runs after you mark mods and confirm — Hygiene does not wipe Workshop on its own.
- Shared stays protected Unique and Unused cleanup is built so Shared mods other Active servers still need are harder to nuke by mistake.
- No inject into DayZ Hygiene manages Workshop paths Steam already owns and launches DayZ with BattlEye. It does not inject into the game exe.
- Unsigned Setup (for now) Windows SmartScreen may warn once. How-to has the two clicks: More info → Run anyway. Code signing is pricey for a free tool.
When to use Hygiene
Use Hygiene when…
Workshop bloat is the pain — Unique vs Shared vs Unused, multi-server keep-set, and getting back on a favourite without wiping everything.
Use a server browser when…
You mainly want a big Find-all-servers experience, owner promo hubs, or Linux — DZSA, Beans, and others are built for that job.
Can coexist
Same Steam Workshop mods. Keep the launcher you already use and try Hygiene for cleanup — or Download / Play from Favourites when you want.
FAQ
Will cleanup ban me or break DayZ?
Cleanup is unsubscribe-style removal of Workshop mods you marked — not a DayZ client hack. Play still launches with BattlEye and the server mod list. Never touches DayZ Exp / Tools / Server folders.
Windows only?
Yes — DayZ on PC (Windows x64). Steam, DayZ, and sometimes the .NET 8 Desktop Runtime once if Setup asks.
